Historic Saugeen Métis, an independent, historic Métis community located at Southampton, Ontario, represents the descendants of Métis in the historic Saugeen community prior to settlement. HSM assert credible s. 35 aboriginal communal rights in the Métis Saugeen territory. The community has been along the Lake Huron shoreline with continuity for almost two hundred years.

Enjoy an afternoon of Métis fiddle music and dancing featuring award winning fiddler Shane Cook & Friends. Enjoy deep-fried lake whitefish on a bun and refreshments, moderately priced. Vendors and demonstrations, children’s crafts and more. Everyone is welcome. Admission is free.

Visit the HSM Interpretive Learning Centre

The Historic Saugeen Métis Interpretive Learning Centre is located in downtown Southampton, Ontario. The Centre is open to the public and features a variety of artifacts and displays that highlight the unique culture and heritage of the local historic Métis community.
