Historic Saugeen Métis, an independent, historic Métis community located at Southampton, Ontario, represents the descendants of Métis in the historic Saugeen community prior to settlement. HSM assert credible s. 35 aboriginal communal rights in the Métis Saugeen territory. The community has been along the Lake Huron shoreline with continuity for almost two hundred years.
Join us on August 9th from 11am to 3pm at Pioneer Park in Southampton for the 14th Annual HSM Rendezvous. Enjoy an afternoon of Métis fiddle music, cultural displays, children’s crafts, food and more.
Visit the HSM Interpretive Learning Centre
The Historic Saugeen Métis Interpretive Learning Centre is located in downtown Southampton, Ontario. The Centre is open to the public and features a variety of artifacts and displays that highlight the unique culture and heritage of the local historic Métis community.
Admission is free.
